The house is a traditional masonry structure with an unusually large timber pitched roof spanning from the roof and down over two levels. The architectural proposal was to extend the house and the pitch roof in two locations.
Public House developed the structural solution with a particular focus on the timber roof structure. We developed the timber detail design in keeping with the original principles of the existing roof structure. In addition, Public House designed a timber transfer structure that enabled the removal of the internal roof prop structure, opening up the loft space as a new useable space.
